Donovan Edwards issues apology after retweeting post containing anti-Semitic comments

Michigan star Donovan Edwards issued an apology Thursday after he retweeted a post containing anti-Semitic comments. In addition, the program is planning a trip to the Zekelman Holocaust Center in Michigan.
Edwards retweeted the post Wednesday night, but said it was the result of a “glitch.” He undid the retweet and, in his apology, said he stands against racism.

“The retweet was a glitch,” Edwards tweeted Thursday afternoon. “I speak for myself. I know what’s in my heart. I am unequivocally against racism, exploitation & oppression in all forms, including stereotyping and trafficking in hate. I have nothing but love for others & I never judge anyone based on race or religion.”
After Edwards issued his apology, Jordan Acker — a member of Michigan’s Board of Regents — tweeted his support for the Wolverines star and added he spoke with coach Jim Harbaugh and running backs coach Mike Hart. Then, he said Edwards and the rest of the team will take a visit to the Zekelman Holocaust Center in Farmington Hills, Mich., once the season ends.

“Donovan is a good kid who made a mistake,” Acker wrote. “After this incident, I spoke to @CoachJim4UM and @MHart2032 and I’m thrilled that Donovan and the team are going to join me by visiting the @HolocaustMI after the season–and learn first hand where hate speech leads.”
Edwards is in the midst of his sophomore season with Michigan and has proven to be a key part of the Wolverines’ running game. He has rushed for 307 yards and four touchdowns in five appearances to help Michigan to a perfect 6-0 record heading into this week’s rivalry game vs. Michigan State. He’s also proving to be a weapon in the passing game, hauling in eight receptions for 89 yards and a touchdown.
