Juwan Howard caused a melee on Sunday, with the Michigan Wolverines and Wisconsin Badgers getting into it with each other after the matchup. After words were exchanged between the two head coaches, Howard threw a punch toward a Wisconsin assistant, escalating the situation even further.

There are plenty of opinions on how the incident occurred but former Michigan football player and current ESPN analyst Desmond Howard has publicly been on the side of the Michigan head coach. Now, he is now calling out one of his fellow co-workers. Dick Vitale has been on Twitter discussing the incident and Desmond does not seem to think it really is Dickie V behind the keyboard.

“I am looking at @DickieV tweets and I’m finding it very difficult to believe that these aren’t the words of a ghostwriter,” Howard said via Twitter. “Seem very personal/aggressive considering his heart.”

Desmond Howard defends Juwan Howard

Reactions have begun to pour in from members of the media, giving out their opinions on what transpired and what should be done for punishment. Former Michigan football player and current ESPN college football analyst Desmond Howard was the latest, seemingly defending Howard and putting most of the blame on the Wisconsin end.

“I saw Juwan walking away and Wisconsin coach put his hands on him to stop,” Howard said via Twitter. “First mistake. Then an ass’t coach inserted himself and said something that only escalated things. Let bosses be bosses and play your position. Second mistake.”

Dick Vitale comments after Michigan incident

After the post-game fight broke out this afternoon between the Michigan and Wisconsin coaches/players, plenty of people across the national media have decided to chime in. ESPN’s long-time college basketball expert Dick Vitale gave his thoughts on Twitter and not surprisingly, he was not happy about it.

His statement on his Twitter page reads: “Lucky that no one was injured in the ugly scene after the Wisconsin vs. UM game. The emotions after games has created absurd behavior. Commissioners of each [conference] MUST STEP UP & state any bad behavior in the handshake line will be SEVERELY PUNISHED/if not GET RID OF IT!”

Later on, Vitale continued to talk about the incident and insisted some kind of punishment needs to happen for Howard.

“It’s sad thinking about what I watched in that handshake line as the coach of a gr8 Univ. ala UM could not control his temper & nearly set off a full blown riot. INEXCUSABLE behavior by Juwan Howard MUST LEAD TO SEVERE PUNISHMENT. UM President & AD should take ACTION NOW!”
