Sherrone Moore arraignment set for 1 p.m. in Washtenaw County Court

The next chapter in the Sherrone Moore drama is about to be written. His arraignment has been set for 1 p.m. ET in Washtenaw County Court, per press release.

“The Court has received information a complaint will filed by the Washtenaw County Prosecutor’s office.  As soon as we have charging information that will be shared,” a press release read. “… Pending determination of probable cause by the magistrate  arraignment on this case will be today, December 12th at 1:00 PM.”

UPDATE: Charges have now been filed against Moore. The court has also set a bond for the ex-Michigan coach.

Moore was fired with cause on Wednesday after allegedly engaging in an inappropriate relationship with a staffer. He’s since been detained. Michigan insider John U. Bacon shared details regarding the situation as it unfolded.

“He broke into the employee’s home in Pittsfield Township, which is between Ann Arbor and Saline, Michigan. (He) grabbed a knife, apparently, and threatened to harm her and harm himself, and that’s when he became into protective custody in Michigan. … Currently, he is being surrounded by mental health professionals as well.”

Shortly after the news of Moore’s termination, ESPN’s Dan Wetzel reported that Moore was detained by police in Saline, Mich., and was later turned over to the Pittsfield Township Police Department for further investigation. Wetzel later reported that Moore was in custody in the Washtenaw County Jail.

“The City of Saline Police Department assisted in locating and detaining former University of Michigan football coach Sherrone Moore,” Saline Police said in a statement to ESPN. “Mr. Moore was turned over to the Pittsfield Township Police Department for investigation into potential charges.”

UM announced Moore’s firing on Wednesday, which AD Warde Manuel said was for cause. A university investigation found evidence of an alleged inappropriate relationship with a staff member, which Manuel said was grounds for firing. On3’s Pete Nakos also confirmed Wolverines players were abruptly called for a team meeting, where they learned of the news.

“U-M head football coach Sherrone Moore has been terminated, with cause, effective immediately,” Manuel said in a statement. “Following a University investigation, credible evidence was found that Coach Moore engaged in an inappropriate relationship with a staff member. This conduct constitutes a clear violation of University policy, and U-M maintains zero tolerance for such behavior. Biff Poggi has been appointed head football coach in an interim capacity, effective immediately.”

Poggi will lead Michigan into the Citrus Bowl against Texas on New Year’s Eve. Whether the Wolverines will have found Moore’s replacement by then remains to be seen.

Michigan finished the regular season with a 9-3 record. This also includes a 2-0 record with Poggi as acting head coach while Moore served a suspension as a result of a sign-stealing investigation into the program. He also received a two-year show cause as a result of the investigation. Biff Poggi served as the acting head coach against Central Michigan and Nebraska, both of which resulted in Michigan victories.
