2026 QB Owen Lansu commits to Minnesota Golden Gophers

Downers Grove South (Ill.) three-star 2026 quarterback Owen Lansu has committed to Minnesota, he announced Sunday on Twitter.
Lansu chose the Golden Gophers over offers from Northwestern, Cincinnati, Toledo and a handful of other programs.
“Minnesota’s surroundings with the city and the resources they have are incredibly underrated, and it’s a special place with a ton of history,” he told On3’s Steve Wiltfong of his decision.
The Gophers have had Lansu on campus plenty of times before this past weekend, but after camping with the program on Saturday, he made the call and announced his commitment. He joins a class that includes three-star Forest Lake (Minn.) defensive lineman Howie Johnson, 6’5 wide receiver Kenedy Uzoma, as well as four-star Cold Spring (Minn.) offensive tackle Andrew Trout.

“I think I’ll have a chance to compete pretty early and that our ’26 class can be huge,” he added. “There’s already four commits and the other three (especially the 4-star tackle) are all studs.”
As a sophomore last fall, Lansu completed 170 of 293 attempts, while throwing for 2,106 yards and 26 touchdowns.
