After an incredible run to Omaha, Murray State is losing one of their key hitters to the NCAA Transfer Portal. Infielder Dom Decker has entered, according to On3’s Pete Nakos.

Decker batted .351 this past season for the Racers. He clubbed 18 doubles and three triples, driving in 48 runs in the process. He also stole eight bases. In the field, he primarily played second base.

Where Decker ends up remains to be seen. Still, he’ll carry the lessons he learned over his time at Murray State with him, after shocking the world with the Racers to make it to the College World Series.

They fell short of their ultimate goal, but the future is bright, both for Murray State and Dom Decker. Perhaps their paths will cross again on the diamond. Only time will tell, as the infielder looks for a new home for 2026.

More on the College World Series

While Murray State fell short, LSU defeated Coastal Carolina 5-3 in Game 2 of the College World Series to secure its eighth national title in program history on Sunday afternoon. The Tigers last took home the CWS trophy in 2023.

LSU’s victory on Sunday was a wild one from the start. In the bottom of the first inning, Coastal Carolina head coach Kevin Schnall was ejected after he yelled at the home plate umpire.

After being ejected, Schnall stormed onto the field and was assessed a “prolonged arguing” violation, which would’ve prevented him from coaching in Game 3 if Coastal Carolina had won Game 2. Chanticleers first base coach Matt Schilling was also ejected from the game after complaining about Schnall’s ejection.

It didn’t end up mattering in the end. With the win, LSU’s Jay Johnson became the quickest head coach to win two national titles. LSU pitcher Kade Anderson was named the tournament’s Most Outstanding Player.
