LJ Thomas, a 6-foot-2 point guard out of Atlanta (Ga.) Bull City Prep has committed to NC State basketball for the class of 2022, he tells On3.

Thomas is the Wolfpacks’ second commitment of the class, following Shawn Phillips.

Thomas chose the NC State Wolfpack over Georgia, Georgia Tech, Memphis, Ole Miss, Houston, among others.

LJ Thomas on why he chose NC State

“I just had a good relationship with the coaching staff, especially the head coach, Coach (Kevin) Keatts,” Thomas said. “I feel like it’s a great situation for me. I also like the way Coach Keatts lets his guards play, so I really like the playstyle. I feel like it fits me…It’s definitely a dream come true. I’ve been working my whole life to play at a high level, especially in the ACC.”

What was the coaching staff’s recruiting pitch?

“They just felt like I can come in and make a great impact and be on one of the biggest stages in the ACC,” Thomas said.

What does Thomas expect his role to be as a freshman?

“I expect to have a major role as a freshman,” Thomas said. “I want to go in there and compete for the top spot, that top point guard spot.”

How does Thomas describe his game?

“I’m a three-level scorer. I can play defense. I’m an all-around player and I’m all about winning. I just want to win.”
