NC State catcher Alex Sosa enters NCAA Transfer Portal

NC State has lost their starting catcher to the transfer portal. Alex Sosa is in as of Wednesday afternoon, On3’s Pete Nakos reported.
Over two seasons with the Wolfpack, Sosa hit .268. He smashed 17 doubles and 16 homers, while driving in 64 runs for his team.
Additionally, Sosa amassed 16 multi-hit games, and tied for the team lead with 13 multiple-RBI games. His bat will certainly be missed in the lineup moving forward.
This past season, NC State was 35-21. They went 17-11 within the ACC, as well. Their season came to a close in the Auburn Regional, where they fell to the Tigers.
The On3 Transfer Portal Instagram account and Twitter account are excellent resources to stay up to date with the latest moves.

Moreover, Alex Sosa is far from the only NC State player to enter the portal. The Wolfpack have already lost a bevy of players, like outfielder Trenton Lyons, pitcher Derrick Smith and infielder Ryder Woodson.

That’s just the nature of the game nowadays in college athletics. However, NC State is on their way towards replacing some of the talent they’ve lost, as well.
Former South Carolina pitcher Ryder Garino joined the program last week. He posted a 5.84 ERA in 24.2 innings during his freshman season with the Gamecocks. However, he has some high upside, and will be a player to watch for NC State next season.
Time will tell what the future holds for NC State. The Wolfpack want to make a run, and after a successful season this past year, they’re hoping to make the necessary moves to get it done in 2026. We’ll see what they can do when it’s time to get back on the diamond, but they’ll certainly look a little different with all their moves.
