2022 cornerback Malcolm Hartzog commits to Nebraska

Prentiss (Miss.) Jefferson Davis County cornerback Malcolm Hartzog has committed to Nebraska, he announced Monday.

“I would like to thank God for giving me the ability to play the game I love and play at the next level,” Hartzog wrote on Twitter. “I would like to thank my family for being with me every step of the way and the coaches for making me the man I am today. With that being said, I’m glad to say that I am 110% committed to the University of Nebraska. #GBR”

The 5-foot-10, 175-pounder chose the Huskers over offers from Ole Miss, Southern Miss and South Alabama. Hartzog notched four interceptions, nine PBUs, and seven tackles for loss as a senior this season. He also played running back, rushing 71 times for for 1,231 yards and 28 rushing touchdowns. He added three touchdown receptions, as well.

In the return game, Hartzog added six kickoff return touchdowns and five more scores on punt returns. He was named Mississippi’s Class 3A Mr. Football and led Jefferson Davis County to a state championship.

Malcolm Hartzog gives Nebraska 11 commitments in the 2022 recruiting class, including eight from outside the state. The Cornhuskers’ crop ranks No. 59 nationally and No. 14 in the Big Ten, according to the On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Rankings.
