As Nebraska seeks a berth in the Women’s College World Series, the play of superstar Jordy Bahl is certainly making it possible. She’s been excellent early on in the Knoxville Super Regional.

Bahl helped guide Nebraska to a win over Tennessee in Game 1 on Friday night. She did so both at the plate and in the circle.

As a pitcher, Bahl threw a complete game and allowed just two runs on seven hits. In the batter’s box, Bahl went 1-of-3 and scored twice, also drawing a walk to reach base.

It was more of the same early on Saturday. That prompted an ESPN segment with Holly Rowe on the Cornhuskers star’s rehab from a torn ACL — and how flawlessly she has managed it.

“We are seeing Jordy Bahl, the pitcher and the hitter, be one of the most dynamic players in all of softball,” Rowe reported on air early in Game 2. “It started out her freshman year at Oklahoma when she went 22-1 and won a national championship. As a sophomore, another national championship, Most Outstanding Player. But then transferring to her home state of Nebraska, injury struck.”

Jordy Bahl barely played before suffering the injury. Certainly it was not the start to her Nebraska career that she had envisioned.

However, you might argue it’s all been worth it based on how this season is going. Rowe highlighted more of her recovery.

“Her ACL tear really set her back, having to sit out all of last year. It was a brutal and grueling rehab process for Jordy Bahl,” Rowe said. “She did a little bit of everything, but she said, ‘You know, I felt at peace. It’s the first time since I was in eighth grade where I didn’t feel the pressure to perform. All I had to do was heal and get ready. But it was an exhaustive rehab process.’

“And I can tell you, this is just over a year removed from an ACL injury. She is out here running bases, diving into home, pitching high speeds and everything she does I continue to be amazed at what this young woman has done coming back from that injury.”

How’s this for amazing? Jordy Bahl was absolutely on point early in Game 2 against Tennessee.

After giving up two runs on two hits in the first inning, Bahl answered right back with a hit of her own and a run in the bottom half of the first inning. Nebraska quickly knotted the game at 2-2 as a result.

And with one win already in the back, all Jordy Bahl and the Cornhuskers have to do is win one more to reach the Women’s College World Series. A remarkable recovery indeed.
