JD PicKell: Nebraska transfers need to sync up early

The 2022 season is incredibly important to Scott Frost and Nebraska. To fix issues that the Cornhuskers have had in the past, Frost has brought in Mark Whipple to be his offensive coordinator and hit the transfer portal hard. That even includes bringing in a new quarterback in Casey Thompson.
On3’s J.D. PicKell broke down the approach, pointing out that it’s incredibly important that these transfers sync up early for Nebraska.
“These transfers need to sync up,” said J.D. PicKell on The Hard Count. “Because we’ve talked about it, we’ve got a whole video on this channel, go check it out, portal power for Nebraska. They did a lot to retool this roster at key positions, at the edge rusher position, at the wide receiver position, at quarterback.”
J.D. PicKell then pointed out what Scott Frost said during Big Ten Media Days. You can have a talented team, but if your talent doesn’t mesh well, you won’t be a good team. Being talented and being a good team are different things. Nebraska has brought in tons of talent at key positions, but will it sync up?

“For Casey Thompson, everyone is assuming he’s going to be the guy at Nebraska, if he’s not synced up with receivers, we’ve got problems. Doesn’t matter if you can throw it a quarter-mile, for Casey Thompson. If you can’t hit your guy on an out-route because your timing’s wrong, we got issues.”
PicKell also breaks down Nebraska’s early season schedule, which is relatively light. That time, an early three game-stretch, is when they need to get synced up. Otherwise, it will be another long season for the Cornhuskers.
