Jordy Bahl joins historic 20-20 club with NCAA Tournament home run

Nebraska softball star Jordy Bahl entered elite company Friday in Regional play of the NCAA Tournament against Connecticut. The Cornhuskers star connected on a home run in the bottom that marked her 20th of the season.
Not only did that drive in three runs to give Nebraska a 7-0 lead, but it also put Bahl in college softball history. She is also a pitcher, having compiled a 23-6 record this season. That makes her one of just four players in history to record 20 home runs and 20 wins as a pitcher in the same season.
Bahl is in her second season in Lincoln after playing the first two years of her college career at Oklahoma. In addition to her 20 home runs, she also leads the Huskers with a .458 batting average, 71 hits and 59 RBI.
That wasn’t the only homer that Bahl had on the day either, as she also sent one over the fence for a solo shot in the fifth inning. The Cornhuskers would go on to a 10-2 run-rule victory in six innings. Bahl finished 2-for-2 at the plate with five RBI.
Not only that, but she pitched three innings and did not allow a hit, striking out three. The Cornhuskers allowed only four hits total for the game as they advanced to the winner’s bracket with a dominant performance on both sides.

Jordy Bahl was certainly a huge part of that win as she has been often for Nebraska. In addition to her hitting stats, she also ranks fifth in the country with 254 strikeouts and has a 1.54 ERA.
After suffering a season-ending injury in her first year with the Cornhuskers, Bahl bounced back to win both the Big Ten Pitcher of the Year and Big Ten Player of the Year awards this year. She previously was the Big 12 Pitcher of the Year in 2023 and the Most Oustanding Player at the Women’s College World Series that season after helping Oklahoma to a national championship.
Now she’ll look to do the same with Nebraska, which is seeking its first WCWS appearance since 2013. The Cornhuskers will take on Southeastern Lousiana on Saturday. The Lions upset Regional host LSU on Friday so Nebraska knows that they cannot underestimate this team as it looks to carve out a path to Supers.
