Luke Lindenmeyer proposes to girlfriend on-field after Nebraska Week 2 win vs. Akron

Nebraska‘s showdown against Akron wasn’t what Cornhuskers tight end Luke Lindenmeyer was most nervous about Saturday. After the game, the redshirt junior proposed to his girlfriend on the field, with hundreds of onlookers watching.
Of course, there were plenty of cameras capturing the moment, as well. After Nebraska’s 68-0 shellacking of Akron, the football program’s official X account posted a video of Lindenmeyer’s proposal.
In the beginning of the video, Nebraska head coach Matt Rhule can be seen reassuring Lindenmeyer after the Nebraska native admits he’s nervous. Rhule wasn’t the only one supporting Lindenmeyer.
Once Lindenmeyer went down on one knee, his teammates erupted into a chorus of cheers. Lindenmeyer’s girlfriend’s teammates on Nebraska’s cheer team couldn’t contain their excitement, either. Lindenmeyer couldn’t be more thankful for the support of everyone involved in the proposal.
“Thank you Jesus!!! This girl right here inspires me on and off the field,” Lindenmeyer wrote on X. “Thank you @HuskerFootball and all my teammates and my family for making this so special #GBR I’m engaged!!!!!!”
Luke Lindenmeyer not only made big plays after the game, but during it too. In the win, Lindenmeyer recorded three catches for 44 total yards. Moreover, Lindenmeyer hauled in his first career touchdown catch.
Lindenmeyer was far from the only standout on the Cornhuskers. Nebraska quarterback Dylan Raiola completed 24-of-his-31 pass attempts for 364 yards and four touchdowns, without throwing an interception.

Nebraska’s backfield was firing on all cylinders, as well. Notably, running back Emmett Johnson exploded for 140 rushing yards and three scores. After the victory, Raiola raved about the team’s performance.
“It’s a new style of Nebraska football,” Raiola said. “We’re not going to be a first-half team and come out swinging and then drop off. For us to do that performance, we suited up everybody we could and got as many guys as we could into the game. Job well done by everybody. We played really strong for four quarters.”
Akron head coach Joe Moorhead couldn’t argue the point. Following the loss, Moorhead gave credit to the Cornhuskers for their dominant performance.
“That was an ass kicking of epic proportions in every facet of the game,” Moorhead said. “We knew going into it that Nebraska was very talented in all three phases of game and extremely well coached. For an upset to occur, the favorite has to do a little bit wrong, and the underdog has to do everything right. Neither of those things happened.”
