Orange (Calif.) Lutheran four-star quarterback TJ Lateef has committed to Nebraska.

He chose the Cornhuskers over Arizona, UCLA, Colorado and others. He also held offers from the likes of Auburn, Florida State and Georgia.

The No. 278 overall prospect and No. 25 QB in the On3 Industry Ranking took his official visit to Lincoln on April 26 and that was all Lateef needed.

“Nebraska made me feel wanted,” Lateef told On3. “The communication was heavy with the coaches since they offered me and they were very consistent. My biggest thing was always to go where I was wanted, and before the official visit they made me feel wanted, then on the official visit, they checked all of the boxes.”

Going into the official visit, Lateef had Nebraksa on top of his list. His time in Lincoln answered each of his questions and he left knowing he would be a Cornerhusker. He wanted to get back home, discuss his recruitment with his family and he is all in the with the Big Red.

“I wanted to take some time, get away from it, and take some time with my family. On the official visit, I wanted to commit. I knew it was Nebraska.

“I chose Nebraska because of the love they showed, the support they offer, the coaching staff, how crazy their fan base is and the great environment I get to live in.”

Lateef is a believer in Matt Rhule and Glenn Thomas

Matt Rhule is entering his second season as head coach at Nebraska. He’s had success at Temple and Baylor before making a stop in the NFL and Lateef wants to be part of Rhule’s success in Lincoln.

“I never wanted to go somewhere that was already the best. Nebraska is good, and they have history, but I believe Coach Rhule can turn the program around and I want to be part of that change.

“Coach Rhule is a great coach, he has been consistent everywhere he has been and he has a set plan for me when I get there. He knows what he is doing, he is getting good players and I feel I can be part of the 2025 recruiting class that makes things happen.”

Glenn Thomas was the lead recruiter for Lateef. He has over two decades of college and NFL coaching experience and that excites the new Nebraska commit.

“Coach Thomas’ resume doesn’t lie,” Lateef added. “It is always a plus to be coached by someone who has been in the NFL. Coach Thomas has been there. He has the experience and he knows what it takes to get there. I believe he is going to help me get there. He made me feel special, we talked about three times a week and I cannot wait to work with Coach Thomas.”
