Nebraska opened fall camp on Monday ahead of the kickoff to their season in 30 days. With the start of their preseason, though, came a list of players who are limited or out for the Cornhuskers right now.

During the opening statement at his press conference yesterday, Matt Rhule read straight from their injury report to update where the ‘Huskers are health-wise. He named 13 players in total who are dealing with some sort of injuries that are affecting their respective availabilities.

“They handed me an injury report for injuries but I don’t know that I can read this font without a pair of readers so I’ll do the best I can,” said Rhule. “Roger Gradney? He’s out right now. We expect him back. Gabe Moore is limited. Preston Taumua has just been ill. Trent Uhlir has been limited. Demitrius Bell is out right now. Conor Connealy is out.

Nolan Fennessy, Juju Marks, Jamarion Parker, Malcolm Simpson. Malcom and Juju had surgeries that’ll keep them out for a while coming from high school. And Tyson Terry, obviously, as you guys know, hurt his knee last year in football season and still went on to win the state championship but he’ll be out, you know, indefinitely. And then Bode Soukup with an injury for a little bit here now.”

None of those dozen players have played significant snaps to this point or would necessarily play notable snaps this fall. All of them are sophomores, redshirt freshmen, or freshman as all are underclassmen in the Cornhuskers’ program. The most notable would be returners in Gradney and Bell, who each suffered season-ending injuries early on last fall.

Then, for a positive, Rhule said OL Turner Corcoran is nearly back from a hamstring surgery he had this offseason. Three of his five seasons have been limited to some extent by injury, specifically the past two, with Nebraska having use for his experience on their offensive line if he can stay healthy for his sixth year.

“So, some guys out but some guys back,” said Rhule. “Turner Corcoran? Still pretty limited but making his way back.”

Players are going to have various levels of health coming into and coming out of fall practice ahead of the starts to their season. That’s the case at Nebraska with these statuses to be updated over the next four weeks with the year less than a month out from starting on August 28th.

“But, yeah. Great to be out there,” said Rhule. “We’re excited to watch those guys practice.”
