2024 NCAA Wrestling Championships: UNC's Lachlan McNeil upsets Iowa's Real Woods in quarterfinals
North Carolina’s Lachlan McNeil took down Iowa’s Real Woods, 7-1, in the 141 pound semifinals with a late takedown to advance to the semis.
With the win, McNeil became an All-American at the 2024 NCAA Wrestling Championships. For Woods, he fell to the wrestlebacks and will have to wrestle in the Blood Round and win to become an All-American.
Woods, who was last year’s runner-up, has work to do, while McNeil will get Penn State’s Beau Bartlett.
McNeil locked up a cradle for the late takedown and eventually landed some nearfall points as the clock expired in the third period.
