Bill Belichick calls reports of looking for an exit from UNC 'categorically false'

North Carolina coach Bill Belichick told reporters Monday that he has no plans to look to exit the school. He called recent reports of that news “categorically false.”
“Bill Belichick tells reporters at UNC that any reports of him looking for an exit from UNC are categorically false,'” Thamel wrote on Twitter/X. It was on the heels of multiple reports of dysfunction at UNC in recent weeks.
At 2-3 overall, all three losses for Belichick have been to Power Four opponents and have been outscored 120-33 in those matchups. North Carolina has Cal this week.
Belichick is considered one of greatest NFL coaches of all time, and has a Super Bowl ring for nearly every finger across his illustrious career. The transition to the college game has been more of an adjustment.

GM Michael Lomardi already denied the reports of “complete disaster” behind the scenes. Whatever part of this story is true, the dysfunction or lack thereof, there is some serious damage control being done. Not to mention Belichick’s offseason drama involving his girlfriend Jordon Hudson’s involvement in the program before that situation was quieted ahead of the season.
“I don’t know about a WRAL report,” Lombardi said to 97.9 The Hill’s Aaron Keck. “I’m not sure there’s been a lot of accuracy coming from that area, but our players are committed to getting better. I think everybody understands it’s a work in progress. Look, we just played one ACC game, we have seven games ahead of us. I don’t think anybody on our team has written off the season or written off anything that we can accomplish.
“We understand we have to get better and we understand we have to play more competitively in the ACC games, and I think our team wants to do that. I’m not sure there’s the disconnect that has been reported. No one’s been around our program with any accuracy to really understand that other than the coaches on our staff.”
