Bill Belichick’s relationship with Jordon Hudson has been under the microscope over the past few weeks. As the longtime, successful NFL coach begins his journey in the college ranks with North Carolina, it’s the one question he can’t stop getting asked about.

That was the case again on Friday, as Belichick joined Michael Strahan for an interview on Good Morning America. He stressed that Hudson’s role is limited to his personal life and business ventures, and has nothing to do with the Tar Heels or football as a whole.

“She’s been through the whole process. She’s been very helpful to me. She does the business things that don’t relate to North Carolina that come up in my life, so I can concentrate on football. That’s really what I want to do,” Belichick stated.

“I acknowledged her in the book. She was very helpful in that sense, with the tribute pages. And also, given the perspective of the book, from a business side, sometimes I get a little football technical, and so she did a good job of keeping me on balance there.”

Continuing, Belichick declined to go into any greater detail: “We have a good personal relationship,” he told Strahan, regarding Hudson. “I’m not talking about personal relationships, Michael, you know that.” It wasn’t contentious, though, as the former New England Patriots coach did reveal that he’s happy, sharing a laugh with the former New York Giants star.

As you can tell, Belichick may not love the attention his girlfriend has been getting, but he’s weaving his way through the questions and reporting on their relationship. That includes multiple tidbits from Pablo Torre of ESPN fame, who reported multiple dramatic storylines, even speculating Belichick could not coach this year.

Most of the conversation regarding Hudson, though, stems from CBS Sunday Morning interview. She intervened and had Belichick refuse to answer questions about how the two met. That went viral and caused some wild rumors and innuendos to be thrown around, from some large personalities and some of Belichick’s former players.

Still, Belichick has remained adamant that the relationship won’t affect his professionalism when it comes to football: “Yeah, I mean, that’s, you know, really off to the side, it’s a personal relationship. She doesn’t have anything to do with UNC football,” Belichick said via SportsCenter earlier this week.

“I’m excited to be back in the coaching meetings and getting ready for June, and then August, when we get to training camp. So June will be a big recruiting month for us, and then August will start getting ready for the season.”

Time will tell what the endgame is. Belichick believes he can juggle his personal life being so public, but it’s certainly a shock to the system. North Carolina might be getting more than they bargained for with the coach. We’ll see how it all comes to a head on the field later this year.
