Most of the time, a coach’s private life stays private. However, for North Carolina Tar Heels head coach Bill Belichick, his relationship with the 24-year-old Jordon Hudson has consistently grabbed headlines.

A recent interview Belichick gave to CBS went viral for a moment when he was asked about how they met, only for Hudson to cut in and shut down the line of questioning. Since then, the fallout of that interview has been steep, with Netflix trolling the relationship in a skit and friends like Charles Barkley expressing public concern. Now, Colin Cowherd has weighed in, comparing the relationship to Bitcoin.

“This thing’s getting weird,” Colin Cowherd said on The Herd. “It is Bitcoin. Nobody knows what’s happening tomorrow, don’t listen to anybody. There could be six other stories, cooking on this…It’s gone from cringy, to crucial, to crypto. I don’t know what the hell I’m going to get tomorrow. That’s why I don’t invest in it.”

It’s unclear if North Carolina knew just how involved Hudson would be in the football program when the school hired Bill Belichick. However, she’s clearly heavily involved. It was revealed that Belichick asked for her to be on staff emails. On top of that, she has taken on the role of publicist for Belichick, with it being reported she was his de facto agent. She even reportedly played an instrumental role in getting Hard Knocks at North Carolina canceled.

“And here’s the thing, she is providing a service. Take your mind out of the gutter. She is providing a service as his social media director, and she’d like to be compensated for it. That’s, I think, where we are…This was always an uneven relationship (between Bill and North Carolina). The minute UNC gave him $10 million a year to a guy who never coached college football — yeah, his dad coached at Navy,” Cowherd said. “But he never showed any great inclination for it. In fact, the only reason this thing makes sense is because of NIL, where Bill can now buy players and doesn’t have to hop in a jet every 15 minutes and recruit guys. So I do think it potentially could work through NIL. But this was an uneven relationship.”

Since Belichick has gotten to North Carolina, the Tar Heels have certainly been run the way he wants. That’s included hiring his son, Steve Belichick, as the team’s defensive coordinator. Other former NFL personnel he’s worked with, like Michael Lombardi, have also joined the staff. The hope is that the results speak for themselves on the field.

“Carolina was desperate, and Bill’s like, ‘Alright, I want 10 million bucks. And, oh, by the way, if I want to leave in a year, I can. No other college contract is paying a guy 10 large a year-plus,” Cowherd said. “And he can just leave whatever he wants to. It was always an uneven relationship. So, Bill’s going to do what he wants.”

Belichick wants to run the North Carolina program the way he wants to run it as a six-time Super Bowl champion as a head coach. However, tension does appear to be growing. The wife of Steve Belichick even appeared to take a jab at Jordon Hudson on social media.

Bill Belichick interview: CBS News responds to UNC coach claims of ‘false narrative’ regarding Jordon Hudson

In response to the interview Bill Belichick gave with CBS, he publicly responded to the depiction in the interview. In particular, he pushed back against what he described as a false narrative regarding Jordon Hudson.

“I agreed to speak with CBS Sunday Morning to promote my new book, ‘The Art of Winning – Lessons from My Life in Football,” Belichick said. “Prior to this interview, I clearly communicated with my publicist at Simon & Schuster that any promotional interviews I participated in would agree to focus solely on the contents of this book.

“Unfortunately, that expectation was not honored during the interview. I was surprised when unrelated topics were introduced and I repeatedly express to the reporter, Tony Dokoupil, and the producers that I preferred to keep the conversation centered on the book. After this occurred several times, Jordon, with whom I share both a personal and professional relationship, stepped in to reiterate that point to help refocus the discussion. She was not deflecting any specific question or topic but simply doing her job to ensure the interview stayed on track. Some of the clips make it appear as though we were avoiding the question of how we met, but we have been open about the fact that Jordon and I met on a flight to Palm Beach in 2021.

“The final eight-minute segment does not reflect the productive 35-minute conversation we had, which covered a wide range of topics related to my career. Instead, it presents selectively edited clips and stills from just a few minutes of the interview to suggest a false narrative – that Jordon was attempting to control the conversation – which is simply not true.”

CBS has publicly said they agreed to a wide-ranging interview. In their own statement, CBS said there were no preconditions to the interview.
