Duke catcher Macon Winslow commits to North Carolina out of NCAA transfer portal

North Carolina has landed a commitment from Duke catcher Macon Winslow out of the NCAA transfer portal. Winslow announced the news on his Instagram account on Monday.
Winslow entered the transfer portal after spending the last two years with the Blue Devils. Now he’ll join Duke’s biggest rival.
The accolades for Winslow are impressive. He was named to the Buster Posey Midseason Watch List earlier this year.
He’s coming off a season in which he hit .278 at the plate, knocking out 13 doubles, a triple and nine home runs. He had 48 RBI and also drew a total of 40 free bases — 31 via walk and nine via hit by pitch.
Macon Winslow is also extremely reliable. In two seasons he has started 96 games out of his 100 total appearances. That kind of durability will certainly earn him some looks out of the transfer portal, especially coupled with his productivity.

It didn’t take long for Winslow to get going after he arrived at Duke, either. As a freshman he hit .250 with six doubles and four home runs, driving in 17 runs.
Another Duke transfer finds a home
Macon Winslow isn’t the only Duke transfer to find a new home in recent days. Former Duke standout AJ Gracia has committed to Virginia out of the NCAA transfer portal, he announced on social media on Thursday. Gracia follows former head coach Chris Pollard to his new university.
Gracia, who is the No. 8 prospect in Baseball America’s 2026 draft rankings, entered the transfer portal with a do not contact tag. Given the circumstances, he was likely already aware of his next destination.
This past season, Gracia slashed 293/.449/.558 to go with 54 RBIs, 15 home runs and 10 doubles. He joins Kyle Johnson, Macon Winslow and Sam Harris as some of the notable departures from Duke’s 2025 roster.
