Ted Johnson believes UNC should consider firing Bill Belichick over Jordon Hudson drama

Former New England Patriots offensive lineman Ted Johnson said North Carolina should consider firing Bill Belichick over the latter’s girlfriend Jordon Hudson’s involvement in the program. He said Hudson has been “embarrassing” the future Hall of Fame coach.
A lot of controversy has followed Belichick and Hudson since Sunday’s CBS Sunday Morning piece, featuring an interview with Belichick promoting his new book. Hudson reportedly had a hand in the awkward interview, interjecting and sometimes outright refusing to have the coach answer certain questions.
Johnson didn’t hold back on a recent appearance on WEEI Afternoons. He won three Super Bowls with Belichick in the early 2000s, but doesn’t think the partnership should continue with UNC.
“I hold college coaches to a higher standard than I do NFL coaches when it comes to morally, they are supposed to be leaders of men, set a good example, that kind of thing,” Johnson said. “I’m surprised UNC never called Atlanta on why they passed on hiring Bill Belichick. My feeling is that the Atlanta Falcons are kinda looking at UNC and going, ‘You should have called us.’
“I say all that to say this: I think the … Tar Heels should consider firing Bill Belichick. They should consider letting him go at this point. It’s a lot of money and they’re deep into, obviously, their preparation for next year, but I look at Bill Belichick and I wonder if he’s fit to coach an NFL team, let alone fit to coach a college team which, again, I put more onus on the character and personality and just overall character, if you will, of a college coach than I do a pro coach. I’m worried that Bill Belichick just isn’t fit to coach college kids and UNC should consider cutting ties with Bill Belichick.”

A source close to the situation told TMZ that there is a “growing sense this could become a problem” among people at UNC. Earlier this month, a report revealed Hudson is listed as the chief operating officer (COO) of Belichick Productions. However, she is not currently listed in any official capacity on North Carolina’s athletic department online staff directory according to the team’s website.
That probe came after Belichick requested UNC athletic department staff copy Hudson in all emails involving him. The internal emails also revealed some of Hudson’s more pressing concerns, mostly involving how Belichick is being perceived by the outside world, and that the UNC administration is doing everything it can to shield him from criticism, especially on team-controlled social media accounts.
“These big institutions are proud institutions and it reflects on the institution when you hire coaches that aren’t reflecting the value of what you’re all about and I just don’t think Bill is doing that right now,” Johnson said. “If I’m UNC, I’ve heard all of guys guy say … this is going to get worse before it gets better. So with that in mind, don’t you think it’s better to cut loose now than see this thing through?”
