UNC transfer offensive tackle Howard Sampson commits to Texas Tech

UNC transfer offensive tackle Howard Sampson committed to the Texas Tech Red Raiders on Wednesday evening, sources told On3’s Pete Nakos. Sampson chose the Red Raiders over Missouri, where he visited before taking an official visit to Lubbock.
Shortly after Sampson made his commitment to Texas Tech official, The Matador Club – the school’s primary NIL collective – announced an NIL deal with him. The group has signed deals with multiple transfer commits following their announcements, and it teased more are on the way.
He will have two years of eligibility remaining after spending one season as a Tar Heel and his first two years with North Texas. Sampson only appeared in four games during his redshirt freshman campaign with North Texas, then looked for a new home and found it in the Tar Heels. He saw a massive jump in playing time, starting all 12 games for the Tar Heels, logging over 800 snaps. To give you some context, he only played 87 snaps during his two seasons with North Texas.
