Notre Dame has won five straight games and eight of its last nine, completely flipping the script from early in the season during coach Marcus Freeman‘s first year with the program. A regular-season finale against No. 7 USC will be a tough one, particularly with cornerback Cam Hart and edge rusher Isaiah Foskey injury question marks.

Freeman attempted to clear up some of those concerns on Monday, with good news on the Foskey front, at least.

“Foskey, he’s probable,” Freeman said. “Hart will probably be questionable for this one. He had a shoulder injury that he had previously. He had a shoulder injury.”

Foskey is Notre Dame’s all-time sacks leader and an absolute terror off the edge. Given how well quarterback Caleb Williams is playing, named one of Kirk Herbstreit’s top-performing players from Week 12 after leading USC to a 48-45 win over UCLA this weekend, Foskey’s presence could be massive.

The Irish edge defender has recorded 40 tackles this season, as well as 11.5 tackles for a loss and 9.5 sacks. He’s also blocked two kicks, recovered a fumble and provided six quarterback hurries.

He leads the team in both tackles for a loss and sacks.

Cam Hart, Isaiah Foskey injury status vital

On top of the impact Williams has had at USC, the Trojans are also getting healthier at the right time. Last year’s Biletnikoff Award winner, Pittsburgh transfer Jordan Addison, had a major impact last weekend after recovering from an injury.

Addison torched the Bruins for 11 catches, 178 yards and a touchdown.

Having Hart, a starting cornerback for the Irish, back this weekend would be huge. That seems less certain than Foskey playing, though.

Hart has 25 tackles this season, as well as 3.0 tackles for a loss and four pass breakups.

The Isaiah Foskey injury occurred in the Boston College game over the weekend, with trainers appearing to look at a lower leg injury.

Notre Dame and USC will kick off on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. ET with a national broadcast on ABC. Notre Dame has won the last four meetings in the series, with USC’s last win coming back in 2016.
