Report: Troubling details emerge surrounding death of Dwayne Haskins

New details have reportedly emerged surrounding the death of former Ohio State star and NFL quarterback Dwayne Haskins. The 24 year old, who was killed early Saturday morning in South Florida while trying to cross I-595, was traveling in a car with a drunk woman before he walked onto the expressway, according to Andy Slater of FOX Sports.
The woman was passed out in the disabled car at the scene.
Per ESPN’s Adam Schefter and Steelers reporter Brooke Pryor, Haskins was down in South Florida training with other Pittsburgh players for the upcoming season. The trip to Florida was organized by Mitch Trubisky, who signed a contract to become the heir apparent to Ben Roethlisberger. The plan was to train in Florida and do some team bonding, as well.
The quarterback helped revolutionize the Ohio State offense in 2018, throwing for 4,831 yards and 50 touchdowns while breaking numerous Big Ten and school records. The record-setting year put his name on the map; he was picked No. 15 overall in the 2019 NFL Draft by the Washington Commanders. After two seasons with Washington, he signed with Pittsburgh and was the team’s backup for Ben Roethlisberger, along with Mason Rudolph, this past season.
Haskins time with the Buckeye re-defined the quarterback position in Columbus. Justin Fields and CJ Stroud have each taken Ohio State to new heights since then, all thanks to the new standard he set. That year also set the stage for the Ryan Day era, as Haskins was the last quarterback Urban Meyer coached at Ohio State.
