Ohio State announces scarlet pants for College Football Playoff game
Ohio State is mixing up its uniforms for the College Football Playoff. The Buckeyes announced on Twitter Thursday morning that they will wear scarlet pants when they take on Tennessee in the first round of the CFP on Dec. 21.
The scarlet pants announcement came a day after Ohio State called for fans to “Scarlet The Shoe.” You can check out the social media post announcing the scarlet pants below:
This is the first time Ohio State is wearing scarlet pants since 2021 when it did so in a regular season win over Penn State. The Buckeyes beat Penn State 33-24 that day.
Ohio State is looking to regain some mojo after falling to Michigan to end the regular season. Despite the loss, the Buckeyes are still in the hunt to win the national title. Perhaps a uniform change will help to get the team and fan base fired up.
Ohio State is hosting Tennessee on Saturday, Dec. 21 at 8 p.m. The game will be televised by ABC. The winner of the Tennessee vs. Ohio State game will advance to face Oregon in the Rose Bowl.
Ryan Day addresses how Ohio State QB Will Howard has responded since Michigan loss
If Ohio State is going to go on a run in the College Football Playoff, it is going to need quarterback Will Howard to play better than he did against Michigan.

Buckeyes coach Ryan Day recently shared how Howard has responded since the loss to the Wolverines and what he expects from him moving forward.
“Similar to the other guys. When you first come off of those types of things there’s a lot of emotion, then as time goes on you’ve got to get refocused because you know that what you’ve done in the past really does not affect what’s going on moving forward,” coach Ryan Day said. “Everything is out in front of us, and I think he’s in the same boat, just like that.”
Will Howard will certainly want to move past the loss to Michigan. He wasn’t at his best then, going 19-of-33 passing for 175 yards, with one touchdown pass and two interceptions.
Howard will have his chance to make amends against the Vols.
“He knows what needs to get done,” Day said. “We’ve got to have a couple great weeks of preparation and then go put it on the field. And he’s the same way. I know he’s excited to get back on the field this week.”
