Ohio State football had a pretty important update to their 2024 schedule, cancelling one game and scheduling another while switching around a bye week.

According to the Columbus Dispatch, the Buckeyes will no longer face UConn this season, and they have moved the slate around to now incorporate a home game against Grambling instead, but a little earlier in the calendar.

“Ohio State announced a change to its 2025 football schedule, with Grambling State replacing UConn as a non-conference opponent,” wrote Bill Rabinowitz of The Dispatch, then adding more details.

“Ohio State will play Grambling at Ohio Stadium on Sept. 6, a week following the Aug. 30 opener against visiting Texas. The UConn game, which was canceled by mutual agreement, had been scheduled for Oct. 18. That will now be an off week. The matchup against the Huskies was announced in 2020.”

No more Buckeyes vs. Huskies, and now Grambling will visit the horseshoe early in the ’24 season.

Southwest makes special flight deal for Oregon game

In a surprising turn of events, a major airline just made life a whole lot easier on college football fans who wish to travel to their team’s marquee non-conference game this fall.

As per usual, the college football season kicks off with a slew of premier non-conference matchups, several of which occur on neutral fields.

On their official website, Southwest recently announced the opportunity to purchase a direct flight to and from Las Vegas out of New Orleans, Louisiana.

“Thinking about following your favorite college football team on the road this season? Southwest just made it easier for you with extra flights to see six marquee matchups in September and October,” read the post on Southwest’s website.

“On key weekends, we’ve added extra service between New Orleans and Las Vegas, Nashville and Oklahoma City, as well as Atlanta and Austin,” the post added.

Apparently, those are typical flights for Southwest Airlines, they’re just getting some more of those specific flights for that weekend. However, they’re also creating some direct flights from scratch for the other games.

“Additionally, new service kicks off between Austin and Detroit, Birmingham and Milwaukee, and Columbus and Portland, Ore.”

Flights on October 10th and 13th to get to and from Portland, Oregon. On October 10th, fans can fly from Columbus to Portland through Southwest Airlines and fly back on October 13th. Fans can get a couple of days before game day on the road.
