One of college football’s biggest rivalries kicks off this weekend as Michigan and Ohio State face off for their 118th meeting this Saturday in Columbus, Ohio. There’s plenty of bad blood in this storied matchup, even as recently as last year when Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh took a shot at Buckeyes head man Ryan Day following his first win over the Buckeyes.

Harbaugh said regarding Day, “some people were born on third and think they hit a triple,” likely referring to Day becoming Ohio State’s head coach in 2019 following the footsteps of Urban Meyer who led the team to a National Championship win in 2014 and ten-plus win seasons during the entirety of his tenure.

Day was asked about Harbaugh’s comments heading into their matchup this Saturday.

“I’m not gonna talk about it right now, maybe there’s another time to hit on that,” Day said.

Day is trying to remain focused on the task at hand, and it’s a big one, as this matchup features both teams ranked in the top five for the 13th time in its history, with last year’s game being the most recent. The Buckeyes enter the game ranked No. 2 in the nation with the Wolverines right behind them at No. 3, as the stakes have been raised even higher in a game that’s as high profile as it gets.

“But like I said, there’s certain things you listen to and there’s certain things you don’t, and any time you’re at a high profile game with a lot of stuff going on there’s a lot of things said,” Day explaied. “There’s a time and a place to talk about that and it’s not now.”

The noise will be hard to block out in this one, as this matchup has plenty of Big Ten Championship and College Football Playoff implications on the line for a second straight year, with the winner securing the Big Ten East division title and greatly increasing their odds of making the playoffs.

Harbaugh and the Wolverines secured the win in this matchup last year, snapping an eight-year win streak for the Buckeyes in the rivalry. This year Ohio State enters this matchup as 7.5-point home favorites, as ‘The Game’ will kick off at noon on Saturday and air on FOX.
