Ohio State running back Treveyon Henderson named top impact freshman
Prior to enrolling at Ohio State, running back Treveyon Henderson was already considered a man amongst boys. A five-star prospect and the No. 1 running back in the nation according to 247Sports, Henderson put his name on the map with over 4,000 rushing yards and 50 touchdowns in his high school career.
Now, Joel Klatt is anointing him No. 1 on his list of impact freshmen for the 2021 season.
“The reason I have Treveyon Henderson at number one is two reasons. Number one is Ohio State really leans on their run game, and their run game has been great over the last couple of years,” Klatt said, via CFB on Fox’s YouTube channel. “In particular, with J.K. Dobbins running for over 2,000 yards a couple of years ago. Trey Sermon late last year, remember he set Ohio State record for rushing yards in a game in the Big Ten Championship Game.
“Henderson … they’re going to feature him. Also, he was there in the spring, and he impressed a lot of people in the spring. I know a lot of these guys come in the spring and enter there, but being there in that program and earning the trust of not only the coaching staff, but their strength staff, which is a big deal … and their new quarterback room. They’re going to have to have a running back that really produces at a high-level early in the season.
“Let’s just say they’re excited about Treveyon Henderson, so I’m excited about Treveyon Henderson.”
With Justin Fields moving on to the Chicago Bears, Henderson will be vital to taking the pressure off the Buckeyes starting quarterback, who will presumably be C.J. Stroud. If the duo can play to their strengths, Ryan Day’s offense could once again be electric in 2021.
In addition to Henderson, Master Teague returns to the running back room as well. While Teague doesn’t possess the same untapped potential, he can help take the pressure off the freshman running back.

More on Treveyon Henderson
While Henderson accumulated an impressive list of accolades throughout his high school career, the running back remains focused on proving himself once again in Columbus.
“At the next level, there’s no games. All the rankings go away, players are bigger, faster, stronger,” he said, per John Garcia Jr. of SI.com. “So I’m more focused and motivated than I’ve ever been. I just feel like all this hard work is gonna pay off once I get to the next level because I’ve been working hard all offseason.”
Evidently, motivation is no issue for the next in a long line of star Ohio State running backs. A magical year could be in store for Treveyon Henderson.
