4-star WR Marcus Harris commits to Oklahoma Sooners after official visit

Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei four-star wide receiver Marcus Harris was a last-minute addition to Oklahoma’s big visitor weekend, announcing Friday night he’d be in Norman for the next few days.
Just a few days later, he’s a member of the Sooners’ 2025 class after committing on Monday afternoon, as reported by On3’s Hayes Fawcett.
He becomes the 16th commitment in the cycle for Brent Venables and Co. and the third wide receiver in the Sooners’ class, joining in-state four-star Elijah Thomas and Texas-based three-star Gracen Harris.
The 5-foot-11, 185-pound Harris is the No. 171 overall prospect and No. 19 wideout in the 2025 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 16 player in California.
His addition is a very welcome one, but unexpected to say the least. Last week, he told On3’s Chad Simmons he was focusing on three schools going forward: UCLA, Georgia and Oregon.

Harris logged an official visit to Georgia last month and took a surprise OV to UCLA last weekend. But the OU visit was an even bigger shocker.
The Sooners offered Harris last summer, but didn’t look to be one of his main contenders over the past year. That all changed on his visit.
“I would really say the coaching staff,” Harris told Fawcett of why he chose OU. “I feel like Coach Jones, Coach Venables and the rest of the staff had a plan for me. I really felt needed and wanted. Also when I stepped foot on campus it just felt like home.”
