Bob Stoops gives epic response to potential postgame tequila bath

Coaches traditionally get a Gatorade bath after big wins. But has anyone thought of a tequila bath?
Apparently, one reporter did and asked Oklahoma interim coach Bob Stoops about it. Naturally, the response was phenomenal.
Stoops works closely with Rock and Roll Tequila, and The Athletic’s Jason Kersey asked if he’d be open to using that for the postgame shower instead of Gatorade.
“That would be OK,” Stoops said. “What’s the administration gonna do? Fire me?”
That’s the definition of an all-time answer.
Stoops is serving as Oklahoma’s interim head coach after Lincoln Riley left for USC. Brent Venables is coming in as the full-time replacement, but he doesn’t start until after the bowl game.
The winningest coach in Sooners history, Stoops retired in 2016 after 17 years as the Oklahoma headman. During that time, he amassed a 190-48 record and took the Sooners to a bowl game every year — including the 2000 national championship.

During his retirement, Stoops dove back into coaching in the now-defunct XFL with the Dallas Renegades in 2020. That’s when he jumped to the other side in the media as an analyst for FOX this year.
Even after he took the interim job at OU, he worked the Big Ten Championship for FOX Big Noon Kickoff.
“Our show will be on an hour ahead of the Big Ten Championship, and I’ll be there,” Stoops said in his introductory press conference. “I’ll be there Saturday. I wouldn’t be if there was something here that would need my attention, but being that it’s a Friday evening and a Saturday, I’m able to work it out.”
The Sooners went 10-2 this year under Riley, but missed out on the Big 12 title after a season-ending loss to Oklahoma State in Bedlam. Oklahoma is gearing up to take on Oregon in the Alamo Bowl in San Antonio, Texas on Wednesday.
