George Stoia Full Interview with Andy Staples | Oklahoma's Big Win Against Texas, What it Means for Venables

Oklahoma earned itself a major celebration with their 34-30 victory over Texas in the Red River Rivalry. However, the linebacker duo of Danny Stutsman and Jaren Kanak took it a step further by doing something that’s a bit more permanent.

SoonerScoop’s George Stoia III shared a tweet with a pair of photos from both Stutsman and Kanak’s Instagram stories. In the time after their Top-15 win in the Cotton Bowl, both went ahead and rubbed it in on the Longhorns a little more by each getting a tattoo of the Horns Down logo on their upper left thighs.

Stutsman and Kanak earned those tattoos too based on how they played in Dallas over the weekend.

Stutsman finished tied for third for tackles on the day with nine while tying for the team lead in tackles for loss with 1.5. Meanwhile, Kanak led the Sooner defense with 13 tackles as well as posting one of the team’s five sacks.

Rivalries can get bitter and carry a distaste on both sides for generations. As leaders of the latest Oklahoma team to win in the series, Stutsman and Kanak proved exactly that by showing their horns will forever be down.

Brent Venables gives impassioned postgame speech after Red River win

Brent Venables is off and running with Oklahoma. His first program-defining win came in Dallas with the entire nation watching, taking down the Texas Longhorns. The Golden Hat will be heading back to Norman and to pain of last season’s matchup could not be further away. In the end, it was a huge victory for Venables as the Sooners moved into the national picture.

Celebrations took place on the field following the game but Venables gave his postgame speech in the locker room. He is somebody who has been part of plenty of Red River Shootouts, dating back to his days as the Oklahoma defensive coordinator. Wins are on the resume, as are heartbreaking losses.

Venables told his team that what played out in front of him on Saturday at the Cotton Bowl was unlike anything he had seen before.

You can watch the full speech from Venables here.

“In all my years of coaching, I’ve never been a part of one like that,” Venables said.

The Oklahoma celebrations are going to go much further than the Cotton Bowl locker room. With a bye week ahead, Venables might even let his team enjoy it for a few extra days.
