Former Minnesota 2x NCAA qualifier Tyler Wells commits to Oklahoma

Former Minnesota two-time NCAA qualifier Tyler Wells committed to Oklahoma out of the NCAA transfer portal. He has two years of eligibility left.
Wells qualified for NCAAs the last two seasons while with the Gophers, making it to the Blood Round in 2024 and Round of 16 this past season. He has yet to use a redshirt, so he could be around for another three years in total.
Overall, Wells is 29-18 in two varsity seasons, going 13-10 this past season. He’s spent his whole career at 133 pounds to this point.
With Wells in the fold, Oklahoma adds another quality piece. They also recently added All-American Peyten Kellar (157) from the Ohio Bobcats.

Brayden Thompson (184), recently explored the possibility of the transfer portal, but is staying in Stillwater. With the addition of former Penn State 184 pounder Zack Ryder, it seemed like it was a done deal.
Both Thompson and Ryder are listed at 184 pounds for the 2025-26 roster and ranked in the top 20 at the weight, per WrestleStat’s algorithm. Ryder left Penn State following the Nittany Lions landing 2024 NCAA finalist Rocco Welsh (Ohio State) via the transfer portal earlier this month.
Thompson went 12-11 as a true freshman for Oklahoma State in 2023-24, qualifying for the NCAA Tournament. While unattached this past season, moving up from 174 to 184, Thompson went 9-0 wrestling at the Bob Smith Open and Reno TOC.
