As schools begin to put a major focus on the 2025 recruiting cycle, Galveston (Texas) Ball five-star linebacker Jonah Williams continues to impress as one of the best junior prospects in the nation.

The 6-foot-3, 200-pounder is the No. 12 overall prospect and No. 2 LB in the On3 Industry Ranking. At the beginning of November, Williams whittled his list of top schools down to 12 — including the likes of Oklahoma, Texas, Alabama, Ohio State and Oregon.

As Junior Day visits get underway this month, 247Sports’ Steve Wiltfong reported on Tuesday that Williams will be heading to Norman on Jan. 27 for another visit with Brent Venables and the Sooners.

It will be far from Williams’ first time visiting OU since he was offered around a year ago. Each time he’s made the trip from the Lone Star State, he’s enjoyed his time around the Sooners’ staff. He named Oklahoma as one of his three schools that were “at the top” for him back in August, shorty after a trip to OU in July. The Sooners will now have another chance to make an impression on one of the best prospects in the 2025 cycle at the end of the month.

“My visit there was a great experience. It was one of the best I’ve had. I really loved the campus. All the coaches, they came and greeted me when I was in the safety room. They all showed up, asked me, ‘What’s up?’ and asked me how I was doing. They had a great conversation with my dad,” Williams told On3’s Chad Simmons.

“I spoke with coach (Brandon) Hall,” Williams added. “I had a great talk with coach (Brent) Venables. That was a last thing I did. It was very productive.”

Williams has an On3 NIL Valuation of $139K. The On3 NIL Valuation is the industry’s leading index that sets high school and college athletes’ projected annual value (PAV). The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.

Jonah Williams Scouting Summary

“Rangy linebacker prospect who is a menace in space. Has the long speed and fluidity to function in space as a zone or man defender in the passing game. Excellent frame and build for an inside linebacker. Measured in at 6-foot-3, 210 pounds during summer campus visits and has plenty of room to fill out. Tested well in explosive drills during camp settings. Impressive baseball prospect as well as a pitcher and outfielder. Sideline to sideline speed is easy for him, covers ground in a hurry. One of the more physically impressive recruits in the 2025 recruiting cycle. High upside prospect whose best football is ahead of him.”
