The Oklahoma Sooners are starting the College World Series with a bang. Athletics Director Joe Castiglione announced a new multimillion-dollar renovation project for the baseball program. With a price tag of $30 million, the renovations have a specific focus on player development.

“Enhancements to the Oklahoma baseball facilities will dramatically impact the student-athlete facilities and the overall fan experience,” the Sooners’ release reads. “This project will transform the look of the ballpark from both the interior bowl and the exterior of the stadium.

“New locker rooms, training areas, coaches offices and team meeting areas combined with chair-back seating, terraced berms and additional awnings and concourses will provide a first-class facility for fans and student-athletes. In addition, a new, state-of-the-art performance and player development center will be added. A new entry to the team facility will include a Champions Lobby, displaying the success and tradition of the Oklahoma Baseball program.”

“With this state-of-the-art facility, Oklahoma Baseball will be set up to continue to position itself as one of the top programs for many decades to come,” Sooners head coach Skip Johnson said. “We’re grateful for the best AD in the country in Joe Castiglione and for his support of our program.”
