This one will be extra sweet for Oklahoma Sooner fans and it will surely sting for a long, long time for Texas fans. The Longhorns were up 28-7 in the game, but the Sooners made an incredible comeback behind the stellar play of true freshman signal-caller Caleb Williams.
Caleb Williams story begins for Oklahoma
Caleb Williams announced himself to the college football world and in a big way on Saturday. Earlier in the season, Oklahoma Sooner fans had been chanting for him after Spencer Rattler threw an interception and it turns out they were 100 percent right.
As soon as he entered the game, Williams began making homerun hitting plays for the Sooners, including this 66-yard touchdown run.
After replacing Spencer Rattler, the true freshman completed 16 of his 25 pass attempts for 212 passing yards, while tossing in two touchdowns and no interceptions. As a runner, he gashed the ‘Horns for 88 rushing yards and a touchdown on the ground on just four carries.
Williams has been highly thought of by the experts at On3 for quite some time now. On3 had him rated as the No.1 overall prospect in America in the 2021 recruiting class.
The Oklahoma Sooners will face the TCU Horned Frogs on Saturday. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. EST in Norman, Oklahoma.
