Fresh off an unofficial visit to Oklahoma last weekend, Ackerman (Miss.) Choctaw County 2025 five-star wide receiver Caleb Cunningham welcomed Sooners coaches to his school on Friday as the February recruiting dead period approaches.

The 6-foot-3, 185-pounder is the nation’s No. 11 overall prospect and No. 2 wide receiver in the 2025 cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking — a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the top recruit in Mississippi.

SEC programs like Alabama, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Georgia and more are in pursuit of him, but the Sooners are also looking to make a splash.

They got him on campus for the first time just a few days ago, with head coach Brent Venables and wide receivers coach Emmitt Jones stopping at his school on Friday.

Cunningham recaps Auburn, Oklahoma visits

The 6-foot-3, 185-pound Cunningham visited Auburn late last month, and the Tigers made a strong impression on him.

“Auburn definitely moved up my list,” Cunningham told On3. “What stood out about Auburn is that I learned a lot about their program. They have great people on that staff. It’s all about brotherhood and family there. They showed great hospitality. The coaches definitely love me they were telling me how I can play a big role in their offense and that they need players like me in their offense.”

Following that up, he stopped in Norman, where the Sooners also made their presence known in his recruitment.

“It is a great place, they have some really good people to be around there. They showed good hospitality. I love that they got the SOUL Mission program – I learned a lot at OU,” Cunningham told Sooner Scoop.

“… I love that they told me a lot of information that I needed to know.”

While it’s still early, the in-state Bulldogs look to have some momentum with the recent hiring of head coach Jeff Lebby. The On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine favors MSU right now after predictions from On3 national recruiting analyst Sam Spiegelman and Bulldogs inside Paul Jones.

The Bulldogs will have to battle a who’s who of major contenders to land him, though. LSU, Alabama, Florida State, and more than 20 other programs have also extended offers, with Cunningham taking visits to multiple campuses in the past six months.

He hasn’t given any indication that a decision is coming soon, but did name his top 12 last month.

“These are schools that are recruiting me hard and schools I have good relationships with,” Cunningham told On3. “Each has something I like and that is why they made the list.”
