Pettis made another diving catch in left field during the Big 12 Tournament that crowed the No. 1 play on SportsCenter’s Top 10 for the day. But even in Sunday’s elimination game he would continue to make an impact early. Making yet another impressive catch in the following inning, this time putting his body on the line and hurling himself into the outfield wall at L. Dale Mitchell Park.
Outside of his defensive heroics, Pettis has also been making an impact with his bat this postseason. Recording three hits in Oklaoma’s two Regional games including a solo home run that represented the only run of the game in the Sooners’ 4-1 loss to UConn on Saturday.

The Sooners will be looking to get redemption against the Huskies and square off with them once again on Sunday. But first they’ll have to get past the Blue Devils, which looks like a strong possibility so far in their elimination game.
After Oklahoma gave up a run in the first inning from an RBI single by Duke freshman AJ Gracia, the Sooners responded in the second inning.
Jaxon Willits and Jackson Nicklaus were both walked and both scored at the bottom of the inning following Pettis’ amazing catch at the top. With Rocco Garza-Gongora hitting an RBI single that scored Willits and Jason Walk hitting a triple that scored Nicklaus and Garza-Gongora.
Oklahoma has not generated any offense since the third inning, but has been able to protect their lead with strong pitching and defense. Now entering the seventh inning with a 3-1 lead just three innings away from advancing to the Regional Final.
