Hauss Hejny injury update: Oklahoma State QB ruled out for remainder of game vs. UT Martin

Oklahoma State quarterback Hauss Hejny is out for the remainder of Thursday’s game against UT Martin, according to the Cowboys’ radio broadcast. He suffered a leg injury and will not return.
At the time of his departure, Hejny completed 5-of-10 passes for 96 yards and a touchdown while also adding 27 rushing yards and a touchdown on the ground. Zane Flores took over from there, and it appears he will be in for the remainder of the game.
Hejny beat out Flores for the starting quarterback job this year. A transfer from TCU, he totaled 65 rushing yards a year ago before arriving in Stillwater as a redshirt freshman.
A Fort Worth, Texas native, Hejny played high school football at Aledo (TX), where he was a four-star prospect. He was the No. 246 overall player and No. 16-ranked quarterback from the 2024 cycle, according to the Rivals Industry Ranking. He then transferred to Oklahoma State this year as part of a completely revamped quarterback room.

In addition to Hauss Hejny, Zane Flores also has not seen the field for Oklahoma State. He is in his third year with the program, but didn’t play as a true freshman in 2023 and took a medical redshirt in 2024. Thursday’s game marked his first-ever college snaps, and Cowboys coach Mike Gundy acknowledged the unique situation for the program.
“Well, obviously it’s different. We don’t have a quarterback that’s ever played a snap for us at Oklahoma State,” Gundy recently said. “We’ve got a little bit of familiarity with a couple of guys coming through spring. But, it’s one of the things in the future of college football that’s a little bit scary, is you don’t have as many guys in that room as you’d want to. I think that Coach [Doug Meacham] and our staff understand the importance in finding out who gives us the best chance to win and building our offense around that system.”
After taking over for Hejny, Flores went 7-for-10 for 44 yards to close out the first half. Oklahoma State took a 17-7 lead over UT Martin into the halftime locker room.
