Oklahoma State CB Carrington Pierce enters NCAA Transfer Portal

Oklahoma State cornerback Carrington Pierce has entered the NCAA Transfer Portal. He transferred to Oklahoma State ahead of this season after spending his freshman year at Chaffey College.
Chaffery is a junior college. His lone season at the school was his first year ever playing organized football. Pierce made 11 appearances for Chaffery, tallying 24 tackles, three tackles for loss, six pass breakups and three interceptions, which he returned for a total of 38 yards.
Pierce’s stunning debut campaign drew the attention of several Power Four programs in the portal, including UCLA, Nebraska and Kansas. Alas, Pierce ultimately committed to head coach Mike Gundy and the Cowboys.
After Oklahoma State suffered a Week 3 loss against Tulsa, the school’s administration fired Gundy. The Cowboys are 0-4 since firing Gundy.
Carrington Pierce didn’t see any action for Oklahoma State this season. He is the 10th Oklahoma State player to enter the transfer portal since the school fired Gundy.
According to the NCAA’s rules, players have 30 days to enter the transfer portal after their coach is fired. In Oklahoma State’s case, players can continue to enter the portal until Oct. 24.
Gundy spent 21 seasons as Oklahoma State’s head coach, amassing a 170-90 overall record and a 2011 Big 12 title. He was named the Big 12 Coach of the Year three times during his tenure and produced 18 consecutive winning seasons.

The school owes Gundy a $15 million buyout. He left Oklahoma State football as the program’s winningest coach of all time. In the 16 years before Gundy took over at Oklahoma State, the program had four winning seasons.
“Cowboy Football reached an unprecedented level of success and national prominence under Coach Gundy’s leadership,” Oklahoma State Athletic Director Chad Weiberg said in a statement. “I believe I speak for OSU fans everywhere when I say that we are grateful for all he did to raise the standard and show us all what is possible for Oklahoma State football.”
On Saturday, Oklahoma State suffered its latest loss, falling 49-17 to Cincinnati. Despite being outscored by 32 points, the Cowboys only amassed 50 fewer total yards in the game than the Bearcats.
Oklahoma State’s problems were its turnovers. The team turned the ball over twice, and lacked general discipline, committing eight penalties for a combined loss of 70 yards.
Running back Rodney Fields Jr. shined for Oklahoma State. He notched a game-high 163 rushing yards and a touchdown on 21 carries. In contrast, Cincinnati’s leading rusher finished the game with just 63 yards.
