A ticket to the Super Regional is on the line as Oklahoma State and Florida face off in a winner-take-all final in the Stillwater Regional on Monday. With the hosting Cowboys finding themselves down 2-1 heading into the bottom of the fourth inning.

Oklahoma State made a pitching change ahead of the fourth, giving the ball to Evan O’Toole after Tommy Molsky got the start on the mound for the Cowboys. And heading into the bottom of the fourth, Oklahoma State head coach Josh Holliday spoke about Molsky’s performance and what he expects from his bullpen moving forward in a must-win game.

“Well he certainly made a big pitch to get out of the jam in the last inning,” Holliday said about Molsky. “But he’s been an awfully good three, four, five inning guy. Probably three-four is his comfort and Evan hopefully right here can come in and get a couple ground balls.

“And then well, as you guys know, you get to this particular game in the tournament you’re not holding anybody back. So (Robert) Cranz, whose been our closer, he’ll be on early call today as well.”

Many coaches are strict with their pitching rotations throughout the season. But in a high stakes, elimination game in the postseason, all bets are off.

“Yeah, it’s a bit unique because you certainly — you’re plotting yourself out throughout the year, as you mentioned, and so much of where you’re at each weekend is how you’ve used guys, days leading up to, and the sequence that you’re in,” Holliday explained. “But you gotta throw that all out the window now. You gotta win these pitches one at a time from the fourth inning on in a 2-1 game. So you definitely have to modify your strategy, I don’t think there’s any doubt about that.”

Molsky allowed three hits and two runs in his three innings on the bump for the Cowboys. Followed by O’Toole allowing a run during his first inning pitching for the game as Oklahoma State now enters the fifth inning down 3-1 to the Gators with their season on the line.
