4-star QB Michael Van Buren decommits from Oregon

Michael Van Buren committed to Oregon over the likes of Maryland and Penn State back in May. After being committed to Dan Lanning and the Ducks for six and a half months, the four-star quarterback has decided to back off that pledge and open his recruitment back up.
“I have been thinking about this for about a month or so,” Van Buren told On3. “Oregon is a great school, but I just have to find the right fit and the right school for me.”
The No. 283 prospect in the On3 Industry Rankings still plans to sign during the Early Signing Period and be an early enrollee. He will now take a step back, see what options are out there and make a decision.

“I am just looking for my next home now. I want to go where I play in an explosive offense, where I will be developed and where there is a family culture. My recruitment is 100% back open now.”
The talented signal caller out of Baltimore St. Frances Academy is expected to take some visits in the coming weeks as he prepares to sign with a school on Dec. 20. Maryland is a local program that has always been involved and that is a school that could come back in this race.
Van Buren knows he doesn’t have a lot of time, but he is not going to rush things either.
“I am just going to see what happens and make the best decision for me and my family,” he added.
