Oregon added insult to injury after a dominant 69-3 win against Oklahoma State on Saturday. There was a lot of tension heading into the matchup after Cowboys coach Mike Gundy made comments this week about the Ducks’ NIL funds.

So following the massive blowout at Autzen Stadium, the person in charge of the music decided to have a little fun with their song choice. “Moneytalks” by AC/DC could be heard playing as the teams exited the field.

Prior to the game, Gundy made headlines when he claimed that Oregon would have to pay “a lot of money” to keep quarterback Dante Moore on their roster beyond this season. He also took aim at the Ducks for the amount they spent on their roster and suggested they should schedule tougher opponents.

“I think Oregon spent close to $40 (million) last year alone,” Gundy said. “So, that was just one year. Now, I might be off a few million. …Oregon is paying a lot, a lot of money for their team. From a nonconference standpoint there’s coaches saying they should (play teams with similar budgets).”

Of course, that all came back to bite him after Saturday’s results. Moore torched the Cowboys defense to go 16-of-21 passing for 266 yards and tied his career high with three touchdowns.

After the game, Lanning once again took the opportunity to take a shot at Gundy. He spoke on how the “extra motivation” provided by the coach’s comments wasn’t needed, but it certainly didn’t hurt.

“I told our team right before the game that it never requires extra motivation for an opportunity to go out and kick ass, but it never hurts when somebody pours gasoline on the fire,” he said. “I felt like these guys wanted the chance to go prove who they are. I’ve got a lot of respect for coach Gundy, but at his press conference, he’s probably saying, ‘See, I told you so.’ That’s probably what his comment is.”

Mike Gundy’s son, Gavin, calls out Oklahoma State reporter in defense of his father

With many Cowboys alums venting their frustrationsafter the loss, Gavin Gundy couldn’t stay silent. The son of Mike Gundy, he quoted a post on X from OSU alum and co-host of the Pistols Firing podcast Carson Cunningham, who tweeted in the first quarter his disappointment in the Cowboys’ performance after they went down 13-0 within the first two minutes of the game.

“Imagine being this pathetic,” Gavin Gundy wrote. “You will never understand the size of balls it takes to do what he does… and how Oklahoma State would be completely irrelevant without him. So you can sit there and tweet all you want but you will never know what it takes to be successful in life.”

The loss for the Cowboys was one of their worst in program history. The 66-point margin of defeat trailed only a 67-0 loss to Oklahoma in 1907 and a 75-0 loss to the Sooners in 1904.

It’s been an abysmal past year for Oklahoma State, which finished 3-9 last season for its worst record in Mike Gundy’s tenure. Yet Gavin Gundy remained steadfast in his opinion that the program would not be where it is today without his father.

“Mike Gundy IS Oklahoma State football,” Gavin Gundy continued. “Period. As QB, he set records in the Barry Sanders era. As coach, he stacked 160+ wins, 19 straight bowls, a Big 12 title, two Fiesta Bowls, multiple Top-10 finishes, & sent dudes to the NFL year after year. He’s the winningest coach in OSU history & the most important name this program has EVER had. Without him, you’d have nothing to brag about, nothing to watch, nothing to cry about.”
