Oregon amps up Bo Nix Heisman Trophy campaign with full-page New York Times ad
There’s been a big Bo Nix Heisman Trophy campaign going around and it turned it up a notch with a full-page New York Times advertisement.
After a career year in his first year with the Oregon Ducks after a transfer from Auburn, Nix could be the guy to unseat Pac-12 foe Caleb Williams. Nix is squarely focused on a championship with Oregon, rather than an individual award.
But that won’t stop Nix’s Heisman Trophy hype around the country.
“Bo-Dacious,” the full page ad read.
That’s a clever use of a word and pun, but Nix isn’t buying it.
“It’s cool,” Nix told reporters Wednesday. “Those designers, they’re good at what they do and they saw an opportunity and went with it. I never thought I’d be able to see that in myself, but an opportunity presents itself and you get to play with guys like I do and for coaches like I do and all of a sudden you’re in that situation.”
Nix threw for 3,593 yards, 29 touchdowns, seven interceptions, a 71.9% completion percentage, 510 rushing yards and 14 rushing touchdowns with Oregon in 2022. Throughout the course of his career, Nix has 10,844 yards, 68 touchdowns, 23 interceptions, a 62.9% completion percentage, 1,379 rushing yards and 32 rushing touchdowns
As a member of the Class of 2019, Nix was a five-star recruit out of Pinson (Ala.) Scottsboro School, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He was the No. 3 overall prospect in the state, the No. 2 quarterback in the class and the No. 32 overall prospect in the class.

As Nix attempts to lead them to the CFP in 2023, he’ll have some extra eyes on him thanks to the billboards Oregon put up. He believes that shows just how special of a program the Ducks have and he wouldn’t rather be anywhere else.
“It’s a lot bigger than me,” Nix said. “But it is a blessing to be in that opportunity. To be in that position. I couldn’t have done it without my teammates, first of all, to even be in this situation that somebody even wants to do that for me.
“It speaks to the university. It speaks to the football program. It speaks to how prestigious it is to go to a place like Oregon and how one time you’re on one side and you get to a school like Oregon and all of a sudden how things can change and how your story can change. So I’m just blessed.”
