Dan Lanning excited for tough trip to Texas Tech in Week 2

Oregon head coach Dan Lanning will have a new experience this upcoming week leading a team as a head coach into a road environment as the Ducks will play at Texas Tech. The two teams will face off Saturday evening in Lubbock, Texas, at Jones AT&T Stadium.
“We’re really excited about this week’s opponent,” Lanning said during his Monday press conference. “They’ve proven to be one of the best teams at home. Obviously going to be a really unique environment, really talented on offense and really on both sides of the ball, got a really good front, interior that can create some issues, wide receivers on the edge that can create some issues and a quarterback that operates really well in their system and they play well at home. It’s gonna be a fun environment for our guys, I think that are amped up to to travel and go play good team.”
Lanning has coached only one non-home non-conference game since taking over as Oregon’s head coach after the 2021 season. That was last year’s season opener against Georgia, which did not go well at all.
The Bulldogs dominated the Ducks on their way to a 49-3 victory at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.
Texas Tech won’t be as mighty a foe as a defending national champion but the Red Raiders will put up more than a fight against Oregon.

The two teams have faced off twice in each program’s history with the Ducks winning both games.
The home team comes into the game coming off a bad loss to Wyoming this past weekend in Laramie, Wy., in double overtime. Quarterback Tyler Shough completed 31 of his 47 passes for 338 yards and three touchdowns along with one interceptions as Texas Tech fell 35-33.
Oregon, on the other hand, couldn’t enter with any more confidence after a record-breaking season opener versus Portland State.
The Ducks scored 81 points in the game with Bo Nix completing 23-for-27 passes for 287 yards and three touchdowns, including three to his former high school teammate Tez Johnson.
“I think we were excited just to get to the game on Saturday. We’ve been practicing a lot. Feel like we’ve been going against our defense forever. We just want to see another opponent. And we knew we had the talent and the skill. We knew we had the experience and we just wanted to put it together and we came out here today and that’s what happened,” Nix said.
