Dan Lanning, Pat McAfee take shirts off, fires up Oregon crowd on ESPN College GameDay

Dan Lanning brought the energy to ESPN’s College GameDay bright and early in Eugene on Saturday morning. Alongside Pat McAfee, it didn’t take long for Lanning to take his shirt off in an attempt to fire up the crowd while on set.
Nick Saban instigated the viral moment, telling the Oregon coach that the fans on-hand will play a major role in the outcome of the game. Saban, who coached Lanning at Alabama, told him to get his fanbase fired up. Not missing a beat, McAfee and Lanning hopped on top of their chairs, undressed their shirts, and screamed “SCO DUCKS!”
All this for a top-10 matchup against the Indiana Hoosiers. It’s a matchup that the Ducks and its fanbase have been waiting for for two weeks.
Oregon is fresh off a bye week following its road trip to then-No. 3 Penn State. The Ducks defeated the Nittany Lions in a white-out setting 30-24 in overtime to improve to 5-0 on the season.
For the Hoosiers, they also had a week to regroup on their bye week. They survived a potential upset bid on the road against Iowa, defeating the Hawkeyes 20-15. That came following a 63-10 victory over a previously top-10 ranked Illinois squad.
This sets up a top-10 matchup between the Hoosiers and Ducks. It features a matchups between two of the best QBs in the Big Ten this season — Fernando Mendoza and Dante Moore. Lanning addressed the perceived quarterback battle between the two during the blockbuster matchup.
“Well, he’ll never be on the field the same time as Mendoza,” Lanning said earlier in the week. “Mendoza will never be on the field the same time as him, and so all he has to do is go out there and play his game, and the rest of the rest will take care of itself. He’s competing to be the best version of himself, he’s not competing against him.”
