Oregon quarterback Dante Moore and wide receiver Dakorien Moore have signed NIL deals with Nike. It’s a major boon for two of the program’s top stars, and the announcement was made via press release on Tuesday.

The duo posed for the company, showing off the Ducks’ new apparel collaboration collection with the Grateful Dead. Oregon previously revealed a new uniform combination dubbed the “Grateful Ducks” in tribute to popular rock band, and fans are loving the threads.

“Nike, Class Trip and the University of Oregon are coming together to unveil the Grateful Ducks collection: a vibrant fusion of sport, music and counterculture that pays tribute to the enduring bond between the Grateful Dead and its home away from home,” a press release announcing the news read.

“The new collaboration honors nearly 60 years of connection between the iconic band, whose genre-defying sound and psychedelia redefined American music, and Eugene, the birthplace of Nike and home to the University of Oregon.

“The Grateful Ducks collection brings this story to life through a full range of apparel and footwear that unites the partners’ unique visual languages, bridges generations, and celebrates the past while shaping the future of sport and style.”

As Nike alluded to, there actually is a connection between Oregon and The Grateful Dead — this isn’t happening for no reason. The school had more on the tribute.

“The “tie-dye out” will carry forward the shared history of the University of Oregon and Grateful Dead, which began in 1965 when novelist and Merry Pranksters leader Ken Kesey returned home to Oregon from San Francisco, bringing with him the energy that fueled the psychedelic and countercultural movement,” the release read.

“In 1968, the Grateful Dead performed their first concert at the University of Oregon’s EMU Ballroom, forging a bond that transcended music.”

All in all, Moore has been on a nice little hot streak, and his NIL deal with Nike drives that point home. the quarterback had a great performance last Saturday against Rutgers, getting Oregon back on track.

In the 56-10 win over the Scarlet Knights, Moore had 290 yards, four touchdowns and one interception on 15-of-20 passing. He also ran for 49 yards on three carries. He’ll be looking to continue his success moving forward this weekend against Wisconsin.
