Oregon took care of business at home last weekend in a dominant performance against Colorado, but now heads back on the road as they face Stanford this weekend in Palo Alto.

The last time the Ducks were on the road they got in a thrilling shootout versus Texas Tech, coming from behind to defeat the Red Raiders 38-30 in one of the most exciting games from Week 2’s action.

Head coach Dan Lanning and his squad were able to pull off the win, but also want to improve at winning on the road. Lanning was asked if there’s anything that they’ll change as they prepare for their next away game, and referenced one of the most quotable quarterbacks in the NFL in his answer.

“You know I thought Jalen Hurts said it perfect the other day when he was talking about 1A and 1B. 1A, win. 1B, play to the standard,” Lanning said. “If you do either one right without the other you’re going to feel unfulfilled, and that’s really what it’s about for us is making sure we hit 1A and 1B.”

Hurts has been liable to drop gems of insightful knowledge and wisdom when he takes the podium at press conferences, and his latest clear caught the attention of Oregon’s head man. But Hurts’ statement echoed by Lanning definitely rings true for the Ducks.

Oregon did not play a perfect game against Texas Tech, as the Red Raiders were highly efficient on third down offensively and generated 456 yards to go along with their 30 points. But as most coaches say, a win is a win.

“We want to play to the standard and we want to win the game, but win the game most importantly. We were able to do that at Tech, but we didn’t feel like we played to the standard and that’s what we want to make sure we bring this week,” Lanning said.

The Ducks have been able to accomplish 1A, winning the game, for the entire season for this year boasting a 4-0 record and a No. 9 ranking in the latest polls. But they definitely achieved 1A and 1B last week as they demolished Colorado, securing a win and playing to their standard in a 42-6 win versus the Ducks.

Oregon will now look to achieve similar success this weekend, this time on the road, as they face Stanford on Saturday at 6:30 p.m. ET in a game airing on Pac-12 Network.
