Oregon receiver Jurrion Dickey suspended over 'series' of actions

Oregon redshirt sophomore receiver Jurrion Dickey has been suspended from the team, Dan Lanning told reporters on Tuesday evening. Dickey will reportedly have a chance to return to the team, according to reporting from On3’s Max Torres.
A third-year player, Dickey has recorded just one catch for seven yards in each of the last two seasons. Still, he’s a former highly touted prospect who could be a difference-maker for the Ducks if he’s locked in. Lanning provided more info on the suspension, via USA Today’s Zachary Neel.
“We’ve got two team rules: be respectful and be on time,” Lanning said. “There are some pieces of that where I felt like he needed a break from us, and we needed a break from him, so we can focus on what’s in front of us right now. Wishing him nothing but the best as far as success, and I want to see him get back to where he could be a contributor.”
Torres provided further information on the suspension and the goal of the Oregon coaching staff. He wrote the following, noting that it was a series of actions, not a single incident, that led to Jurrion Dickey’s suspension:
“[T]his staff is hoping they can help him, not just run him off, but also not allow him to be a negative impact to the rest of the team.”
As a true freshman in 2023, Jurrion Dickey appeared in five games for the team. He took a redshirt as a result, with his lone statistical activity coming in the Vrbo Fiesta Bowl against Liberty, a lone catch for seven yards.
He was more involved as a second-year player in 2024, starting to get a taste of offensive action more regularly as he appeared in 10 of Oregon’s 14 games. Dickey caught one pass for seven yards while logging 77 total snaps. Of those snaps, 22 came on offense and 55 came on special teams.

As a recruit, Jurrion Dickey was a superstar. He ranked as a five-star prospect and the No. 28 overall recruit in the nation in the 2023 class. He was the No. 2 wide receiver in the class and the No. 3 overall player from the state of California, hailing from Palo Alto (CA) Valley Christian Schools.
On3 had the following to say in evaluating Dickey as a prospect. Charles Power provided the write-up:
“Physical, productive receiver with a well-rounded skill set. Owns a thick, filled out build, checking in at around 6-foot-2.5, 215 pounds. Also has long arms with a 6-foot-6 wing-span, which manifests in a large catch radius. Strong in every phase of the play. Bullies wide receivers off the line and at the top of his routes. Attacks the ball at the catch point and shows strong, reliable hands. Tough to bring down and maximizes after the catch. Has good play speed and clocked a multiple electronically-timed sub-4.6 second 40-yard dashes.
“Highly productive as a junior against some of the best competition in Northern California with 1,304 receiving yards and 19 touchdowns. Also plays defense. Shines in competitive situations. Was the top receiver at The Opening Finals prior to his junior season at Overtime’s OT7 tournament before his senior year. Got off to a strong start as a senior before missing much of the season with injury. Younger for the class and won’t turn 18 years old until he’s enrolled in college. Has had a few knee injuries over the course of his career. One of the top 2023 receivers if healthy.”
