Oregon rises in On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Rankings

It has been a good day for Dan Lanning. Oregon has landed four commitments on National Signing Day: Denton (Texas) Guyer five-star safety Peyton Bowen, Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco five-star defensive lineman Matayo Uiagalelei, Long Beach (Calif.) Long Beach Poly four-star cornerback Daylen Austin and Dripping Springs (Texas) four-star quarterback Austin Novosad.

The Ducks started today at No. 14 in the 2023 On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Rankings. They rose to No. 10 following pledges from Bowen and Novosad, No. 8 after landing Uiagalelei and No. 6 when Austin flipped from LSU.

In addition to holding a top-10 class, Oregon’s 2023 recruiting class is now No. 1 in the Pac-12. The Ducks’ group contains 28 commitments and is composed of three five-stars, 14 four-stars and 10 three-stars.

Lanning and Co. flipped Austin, Bowen and Novosad from LSU, Notre Dame and Baylor, respectively. Meanwhile, Uiagalelei chose Oregon over Ohio State and USC.

Holding commitments from Bowen and Uiagalelei gives the Ducks three top-30 commitments. The other is Palo Alto (Calif.) Menlo-Atherton five-star wide receiver Jurrion Dickey, the No. 22 overall prospect and No. 2 wide receiver in the 2023 cycle, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. 

Meanwhile, Bowen is the No. 13 overall prospect and No. 2 safety in the 2023 cycle, according to the On3 Consensus. He is also the No. 3 player in Texas.

On3 rates Bowen higher than other recruiting services, per the Industry Comparison. According to the 2023 On300, he is the No. 2 player in Texas.

Uiagalelei is the No. 29 overall prospect and No. 4 defensive lineman in the 2023 cycle, according to the On3 Consensus. He is also the No. 5 player in California.

Austin is the No. 105 overall prospect and No. 10 cornerback in the 2023 cycle, according to the On3 Consensus. He is also the No. 9 player in California.

On3 rates Austin higher than other recruiting services, according to the Industry Comparison. Per the On300, he is the No. 102 overall prospect and No. 6 player in California.

Lastly, Novosad is the No. 117 overall prospect and No. 10 quarterback in the On3 Consensus. He is also the No. 21 player in Texas.
