Personal Life
As physically imposing as Matayo Uiagalelei can be on the field as a two-way star for one of the top high school programs in the country, he’s also artistically gifted off it, weaving together beat patterns as a music producer. “It’ll probably be one of my careers after football, or even during football,” Uiagalelei told the Los Angeles Times. His producer tag is @young_concrete, along with his Instagram and Twitter handles. Uiagalelei watched his older brother, D.J. Uiagalelei, now the starting quarterback with the Clemson Tigers, as the ball boy for St. John Bosco until his freshman year. Coach Jason Negro said Matayo Uiagalelei’s ability to learn two game plans – splitting reps at practice between tight end and defensive line – is impressive. “You have to give him a lot of credit for the mental side,” Negro said.

Reminds Us Of
Matayo Uiagalelei is a jumbo athlete who projects as a defensive lineman long-term. He presents a high upside while still having room to continue developing as a defender, similar to Taco Charlton at the same stage. Charlton had a breakout senior season production as a defender and played both defensive end and tight end, like Uiagalelei.
