Oregon‘s Dan Lanning is one of the most passionate head coaches in college football. That passion was cranked to its highest level this past weekend when Lanning stood with his team in a Beaver Stadium tunnel, listening to over 100,000 Penn State fans cheer against the Ducks.

Ahead of every Penn State home game, Nittany Lions fans chant, “We are Penn State.” In a game recap video posted by Oregon football on Wednesday, Lanning could be seen responding to the iconic chant, “‘We are about to get our ass kicked,’ is what they’re about to say.”

Oregon defeated Penn State 30-24 in double overtime to improve to 5-0 on the season. In turn, Oregon landed at No. 2 in the AP Top 25 this week.

In the win, Oregon quarterback Dante Moore looked like a Heisman Trophy candidate, completing 29-of-his-39 passes for 248 yards and three touchdowns, without throwing an interception. In comparison, Penn State’s Drew Allar threw for 137 yards and two TDs, while throwing one pick.

Oregon’s defense was stellar in the outing, holding Penn State to just 247 total yards of offense in a game with two overtimes. Oregon’s defense recorded two sacks and five tackles for loss.

Penn State’s “We Are” chant wasn’t the only Nittany Lions tradition Lanning trolled. After the game, Lanning posted an Instagram story with the song “Mo Bamba” playing in the background. He captioned the story, “My new favorite song.”

Since 2019, “Mo Bamba” has become synonymous with Beaver Stadium and regularly plays at Penn State home games. Evidently, Lanning’s fiery personality is also rubbing off on his players.

After Oregon’s win over Penn State, the Ducks’ defense ran across the field to taunt the Nittany Lions’ student section. While some Penn State fans may have felt disrespected by Oregon, Dan Lanning ultimately praised the Nittany Lions’ team after the game.

“That’s the best game I’ve ever been a part of, regardless of who won that game, unbelievable back and forth,” Lanning said following the win. “Penn State is a damn good football team. They figured out some stuff there against us at the end. I think we both scored two touchdowns in the second half, just an unbelievable back-and-forth.

“… This is a huge one for our entire team, right? Because that crowd’s probably worth seven points, right? And they really weren’t tonight. I really didn’t feel that much ourselves.”
